As founder and CEO of 2oceansvibe Media, Seth Rotherham has proven that there are ways to make a success out of a sideline. With the blogging days behind him (over 15 Blog of Year awards) and over 20 staffers on hand at 2oceansvibe.com, 2oceansvibe Media has exploded into a South African phenomenon - as Seth somehow continues to live the holiday.
Twelve years in the making, Google has awarded 2oceansvibe.com with a higher "PageRank" than News24.com, Mail & Guardian, Business Day or iol.co.za. 2oceansvibe.com speaks to over a million unique readers every year (1 million vists between Jan and April 2012). 18,000 people follow Seth on Twitter.
2oceansvibe Radio launched in August 2010 and apart from being the first and most successful digital/internet radio station in SA, it now boasts up to 4,000 unique listeners a day. The average listening time is around 2 hours, compared to 25 minutes for mainstream FM stations. Another 2oceansvibe Radio studio has opened in Johannesburg's Melrose Arch, with ex-5FM DJ, Ian F osting the breakfast slot. Other personalities on air include Bob Skinstad, Chris Forrest, Bailey Schneider and Richard Hardiman.
Seth was chosen as GQ Magazine's Best Dressed Man 2011, proving that the fashion industry does have a sense of humour. Irony in place, he is just as comfortable giving an hour presentation on the world of online tech, as he is hosting a glitzy event. In public, he is not shy of giving his view - as Idol's Randall Abrahams found out one year, with hilarious consequences.
Interests apart from the internet include business, sport, fashion, entertainment, technology, politics and travel. He speaks excellent broken French and is able to order a Campari and Soda with ice (in French), when in Provence during his annual family visit.
Long-term endorsements and sponsorships include MINI, Vespa, Mount Nelson hotel, Westcliff hotel (JHB), Puma, Digicape Apple Mac, vida e, Dove Men+Care, Sunglass Hut, Jack Daniels, Boschendal bubbly, De Grendal wine and Butlers pizza (the 'Rotherham' pizza is to die for). Restaurant alignments include Cafe Caprice in Camps Bay (try the 2oceansvibe cocktail, Mount Nelson's Oasis and Planet Restaurants, as well as HQ restaurants in Heritage Square, Cape Town.
